Why this page exists

Tips covers practical setup. This FAQ only covers high-stakes decisions where people usually hesitate.

Is Linux safe for my files?

Yes, if you back up first and use guided install options. Do not start with manual partitioning unless you are experienced.

Should I start with dual boot?

For beginners, yes. Dual boot gives a safety path and lowers pressure while you learn Linux step by step.

Can I roll back quickly if I panic?

Yes. Keep your Windows boot entry, backup verified, and a live USB. That gives you a reliable recovery route.

Will Wi-Fi, audio, and graphics work?

Usually yes, but always test in live mode first. If something fails there, fix it before installing permanently.

What if installer cannot see my disk or Windows?

Stop and do not force changes. Check UEFI mode, Secure Boot settings, and storage controller mode before continuing.

Will my Office and project files still open?

Most files open fine, but complex macros and advanced formatting can differ. Validate your critical files before full migration.

Is gaming realistic on Linux now?

For many games yes, especially with Steam + Proton. Anti-cheat games are the main exception, so check compatibility first.

Where do I get fast help if I get stuck?

Use the Covago community page and include distro version, hardware model, exact error text, and what you already tried.
